Christ declared in Mar 8:36 “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” What profit, or satisfaction is there in a life lived only for selfish gain or material profit? The answer comes ringing and resounding from the son of David, king of Israel. Solomon declares with authority, “Vanity, vanity, saith the preacher, all is vanity!”
In the Fall of 2011 Pastor Thompson led Grace through an in depth study of the book of Ecclesiastes. Through this study we learned about the emptiness of a life lived apart from God Who made us and has purpose for our life. We learned of the utter hopelessness of self gain and glory and understand that fulfillment and satisfaction only comes when we KNOW, LOVE, AND SERVE God with all of our heart.
