Timeless or trendy?  Malls are trendy.  Churches should feel timeless.  With the forceful current of constant change sweeping over every part of our lives, we need something that is enduring and firm.  We believe that Jesus Christ founded the church to represent His eternal kingdom and ageless Truth with no need to imitate the culture.  We want you to know that there is still a church that feels like church.  It won’t feel like a rock concert, a comedy club, or a motivational seminar.  It’s not trendy, as in a few years ago.  It’s not old-fashioned, as in 50 years ago.  It’s timeless, as in 2000 years ago.

At Grace, we still believe in the dynamic, passionate communication of God’s eternal Truths.  That’s what the Bible calls “preaching”.  Many churches have either minimized preaching or replaced it with dramas, comedy routines, or motivational speeches.  At Grace you will hear preaching that is:

  1. Bible-centered-  We still believe in the absolute Truth of the time-tested Word of God.  Be sure to bring your Bible because you will need it.
  2. Practical and clear-  Many spend their time trying to make the Bible “relevant”.  The Bible has never been irrelevant.  It is timeless! As a result, Bible truths become obscured by jokes, irreverent illustrations, and shallow stories.  We still believe in setting forth Biblical principles in a clear and practical way so that you can apply those truths in your daily life.
  3. Passionate and unapologetic-  In a culture of “believe whatever you want regardless of whether it is actually true or not“, preaching may seem offensive to sensitive hears.  However, we still believe that the preaching of God’s eternal Truth should not be watered down.  At Grace you will hear passionate, direct preaching that challenges your faith.

In most churches today, the music consists of dumbing down the lyrics and cranking up the volume.  Platforms look and feel like rock concerts.  The singing of hymns are considered as irrelevant.  At Grace, we still believe that hymns generate a proper attitude toward God that is anything but lifeless and boring.  While many rock stations are promoting the “oldies”, the modern church is scared of hymns.  Don’t get us wrong.  We like new music too.  We just believe that both the message and the method should be Godly, not worldly.

Casual seems to be the rage today, but we believe that God deserves better.  While you will not find a judgmental spirit here at Grace, you will find a church that believes that reverence is right for the presence of God.  Reverence is a fading virtue in America, not because God doesn’t deserve it, but because churches no longer promote it.  We believe that the presence of God deserves our attempt to express reverence and respect, not because it impresses Him, but because it reflects the attitude of our heart toward Him.

There is a mistaken idea these days that God needs help from the latest fads and technologies to be considered exciting.  The Truth about Him is just not enough; it takes the latest music styles and entertainments trends to bring life to His attributes.  At Grace, we believe that entertainment and true worship are not the same, nor do they produce the same results.  Strobe lights and darkened auditoriums may evoke the emotions, but they do nothing for someone’s spiritual walk with God.  Once a church starts down the path of entertainment, their results are unpredictable and usually undesirable.   While we are not afraid of technology, we still believe that church can still be exciting without borrowing the latest fads to kick-start the crowd.

The Lord Jesus Christ declared in Matthew 16:18, “I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”  The Apostle Paul also declared in 1 Timothy 3:15, “the church of the living God, (is) the pillar and ground of the truth.”  At Grace, we still believe that the New Testament local church is God’s institution- established and commissioned by Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to proclaim the Gospel to the ends of the earth.  The church and its message has always been relevant.  Sharing Christ with our community through evangelism is still a Biblical method.  Therefore we unashamedly declare that we are “STILL CHURCH”!  We are still a preaching church- still a reaching church- still a Christ-honoring church- still an exciting church- still doing God’s work, God’s way!

Make plans to come and visit us.  We would be honored.
